Good Fit Formula !

What a joy to go to a fashion parade and see good fitted garments , especially when you know the models have created their own designs, drafted their own patterns and constructed the garment themselves !!

This was the case at the College of Fashion Design end- of- year parade at the romantic "Gables" where 20 students, aged 16-50, proudly displayed their craft in a dynamic presentation. Even the vertical plunging neck lines and bikini tops snuggly fitted around the bust without gaping as you can see in Jordan's elegant garmentfeatured below. Notice the fluted sleeve with no seam! A very sophisticated design. Jordan began her SITAM training at secondary school in the VET Clothing program which is auspiced by the COllege of Fashion Design andchose to continue her studies with us. This year shebe will be completing her Diploma and entering into the "Masters of Fashion" competition.

Cat is another VET Clothing student who created four different bustiers and this with NO boning! As you can see this is a skin tight fitted bodice made entirely to her measurements.Cat's theme for her range was "Queen of the Underworld"

Elizabeth, however, began her studies in Certificate IV in Clothing Production in 2005 with absolutely no sewing or patterndrafting or fabric knowledge. Stretch tops and jeans was all she knew! The personal satisifaction she has experienced learning these skils has beenlifechanging and as you can see below her chiffon blouse and tight fitting skirt is a head turning outfit which can be worn to the office or party. In fact, she has already received an order for a similar blouse for a legal clerk who has a larger figure. The beauty is that Elizabeth will use the same design but start a new pattern using her client's body measurements. She is also returning to complete her Diploma this year and will establish herself with her sister in a made- to- measure business.
The key to these good results is of course due to the magic of the European SITAM AB pattern drafting/design system which is revolutionising the way fashion design is taught in Australia.

The AB sizing template enables you to draft in proportion to the chest measurement and gives a proportional dart which means that the fullness is built inside the garment around the bust point which is the critical curve in any garment. This is why you can make any garment to fit, no matter the size or shape

The great advantage of these training tools is that you can learn these skills whether you are full time , part time or by Distance Education and still achieve the same or better results.

Loren joined the part-time program in May of last year and has designed, patterned and constructed 3 classically elegant fitted dresses and a jacket . Georgie also started last May aand created this beautiful top in Valentino fabric!!Very ambitious for a learner.

Liz is a professional dressmaker who came to learn the pattern drafting on a part-time basis. She claims the SITAM AB system has increased her confidence to such an extent that for her last bridesmaid dresses, she had only one fitting !! This she could never have done with Size 14 commercial patterns.

We encourage the Distance Learner students to come to Melbourne and join in the fashion parade and it was a treat to meet for the first time Leanne who has completed her Certificate IV and has nearly finished her Diploma and NEVER been to a class. Her four garments were well designed and fitted beautifully as you can see by her leopard skin skirt, bustier and jacket.

So what is the secret formula that makes these students achieve such exciting results. The first ingredient is YOU Your desire and motivation to learn the secrets of making a good garment is absolutely essential as is your creative design input. The second is the SITAM AB system with its instructional step by step skills prgrom which can now be taught as a multi media program . The third ingredient is the necessity for accurate body measurements to draft your patterns to specific body shape.

So the good fit formula is YOU + SITAM AB + accurate body measuremes = GOOD FIT !!

When this formula is applied it wil NEVER FAIL> You can be assured of the results you want to achieve with consistent study and practice !

YOU can begin to learn once hidden secrets of the trade at your own pace in your own home without going to class and earn an accredited Certificate on the way.

More importantly you will at last be able to make the lovely clothes you have always dreamed of
